MY STORY

Andy Anderson, M.A., LPC, KPMT

I have worked with kids of all ages for over 40 years as a teacher, school counselor, and LPC in private practice. Before founding Parenting & Child Conduct Counseling in 2009, I was a middle/high school band director (20 years) and school counselor (14 years) in the public schools of Missouri.

As a behavior specialist, I have provided therapy for children and adolescents with behavior problems throughout my counseling career. I earned KPMT (Parent Management Training-Kazdin Method) clinician certification at the Yale Parenting Center in 2013 and am an adjunct therapist for the Parent Management Training Institute in Madison, CT.

I have spoken on child and adolescent behavior problems at numerous conferences, workshops, and graduate counselor education classes. Speaking engagements include the Missouri Middle School Association, American Counseling Association of Missouri, Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association, Missouri Institute of Mental Health, and guest speaker at Lindenwood University. Also, I had the opportunity to assist a Yale Parenting Center staff member in giving a presentation at the University of North Carolina School of Psychiatric Medicine.

I enjoy mentoring young counselors in training and have supervised numerous mental health/school counselor interns and provisionally licensed professional counselors.

I am married with two adult children and six grandchildren.
