Trauma - Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy

PCCC offers Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment approach to help children, adolescents, and their parents (or other caregivers) overcome trauma-related difficulties. Child trauma experts developed TF-CBT to reduce negative emotional and behavioral responses following an event like child sexual abuse, exposure to domestic violence, traumatic loss, and other traumatic events.

TF-CBT addresses distorted or upsetting beliefs and responses related to the traumas and provides a supportive environment where children are encouraged to talk about their traumatic experiences and learn skills to help them cope with ordinary life stressors.

TF-CBT also helps parents who were not abusive to cope effectively with their emotional distress and develop skills that support their children.
